CLASSIC AIRPLANE “TAIFUN” LANDING IN KIEL-HOLTENAU
The oldest flying Messerschmidt BF 108 in the world
(Kiel, 31 July 2016) On July 28, the oldest Messerschmidt BF 108 that is still able to fly, the “Taifun”, touched down at the airport Kiel-Holtenau. According to the Pilot of D-EBFW, there are only about twelve of these elegant four-seaters left throughout the world and approx. four of them are still in operation. The “Taifun” still catches the eye with its elegant appearance and has outstanding flight characteristics. Made in Augsburg in 1937, the BF108 with serial number 1561 only returned to its home country in 2003. It had spent the 4 prior decades in Denmark, most of the time in private hands and tendered by Mr. Henning Poulsen. A group of owners in Reichelsheim discovered the rare classic in Denmark and brushed it up. Now the “Taifun” flies again like on its first day. For the group of owners a dream has come true.
