(Kiel, 31 May 2016) On Monday, May 30, the new airport cycle path between Kiel-Holtenau and Altenholz-Stift respl Friedrichsort was opened by Kiel’s mayor Peter Todeskino and the mayor of Altenholz Carlo Ehrich. The 3 m wide cycle path takes you directly along the airport on a length of one kilometre, lined by modern LED street lamps and signs. The building costs amounted to 850,000 Euros. The new airport cycle path offers a new connection between the districts to Kiel’s citizens and tourists. Trippers can get to the airport by bike now and observe the operations from the panoramic terrace of the airport restaurant or the Flieger-Café. Besides, the path is also suitable for pedestrians, skaters and longboarders.
